there si a bit of a fallacy in that 28 million number by the way. His contract is pro-rated (as I read in a few places) and the actual season number is closer to 18 mil.....FWIW

$3 million per win. That's even better than JD Drew's $2 Million per home run.

That's all? Thought it would be more. Still funny if u ask me. His last game was silly. 10-9 when he exits? Like me moppin a floor at the local bar and all I do is drink and drop the mop and they hand me a check.

i guess i'm a bit confused. while i'll agree the salaries these guys make are ludicrous (ok so clearly i'm a tad biased by envy) why factor perf by salary checks. isn't the bigger question, where would the sox be without his 14 wins?

or for example how far back would the mariners be were it not for putz (ok so i know he's not making 50+ million but still the same logic applies)

guess i just figure performance and the standings are more important than figuring out how much a guy makes per stat. but given i'm a fan of (as we so love to point out) a 200 million + salary team I guess it's only natural i'd feel that way.

Hmmmmmmm he only gave up 7 runs how could it be 10-9. Again don't let facts get in the way of your argument.

they still got 14 wins? I guess u assume any other pitcher would go 0-25? Get real. When he left the game it showed 10-9 I guess the other guy got 2.

There's another 14-11 pitcher whose run support hasn't been that good and he's been prone this year to giving up more runs than expected. His team doesn't have the record Boston has, but still......he's often mentioned as the best pitcher currently in the game- Johan Santana.
