was commenting to my brother that I actually remember his first homer....he was a lot smaller then, playing RF.......what I hadn't remembered (why would I) is that he homered to center...over current Twins' manager Rocco Baldelli, who is only a year older but hasn't played in a long long time (too bad how his playing career ended)

btw, I know there's missing stats this morning. Yesterday, when I was leaving earlier, they were updated by 4am central.......today, even tho I had an extra 90 minutes, not updated...my backup always misses a quarter to a third...mostly hitters

Cataract surgery #1 went fine yesterday, #2 today

Yes, I had my right eye done Tuesday, vision in that was very good by the end of the day. Then I had the left done Wednesday, with vision in it very good by day's end as well...tho not quite as good.

Now, I didn't pay extra for multifocal lenses, I got the monofocal that Medicare covers. There, they ask ahead of time if you'd prefer better far distance or near distance lenses and there's a basic enhancement to your vision by which you choose. I spend a lot of time on a computer, so I chose near.

If a guy didn't need bifocals, he wouldn't even need glasses after surgery since it's basically lasik. OR, if a guy chose multifocal lenses (for an extra 4k/eye).

In my case, I had a muscle nerve issue years ago that left me slightly crosseyed (slight, you'd never know to look at me), so I wouldn't be able to eliminate glasses anyway. I need prismed lenses and that can't be done surgically.

So yeah, each eye currently sees better than they've seen in 20 years....a lot of people don't realize cataract surgery means they actually remove the lens and replace it with an artificual one. But, I will still have a month of weird because I have to wait weeks for things to settle in before I can order new glasses. So, I bought a pair of readers for screen time and will wear an eye patch some of the time so I don't get headaches from the crosseyed thing........because every pair of glasses I have is too strong to be used right now.

It was weird...your eye is numbed and they give you sedation, but you're not under. I was actually talking about beer with my surgeon while he worked.

And to me even more impressive, the only player in the last 50 years to win the Triple Crown (league HR, RBI, Batting Avg titles in the same season).

I actually think he's underrated, if that's possible.

To put it in perspective, even all-time great hitters Babe Ruth and Barry Bonds never won the Triple Crown, though they both hit well over 500 HRs.

Well unfortunately, he's another HOF lock playing in Detroit that's spent years playing on losing teams a la Barry Sanders.....so we've so rarely seen him in the playoffs

Congrats Shohei Ohtani......only the 3rd player in AL history to have 40 hrs and 20 SB before Sept 1st.

The other 2 were Alex Rodriguerz and Ken Griffey Jr........pretty good company.

Can't see Ohtani NOT getting the AL MVP this year.

Well I guarantee it will be a long time before anyone else has 40/20/10 with the 10 being wins pitching....

the Angels may not have gotten their money's worth before this year, but he's making up for it now..........imagine if Trout hadn't been hurt most of the year, not sure there's been a pair that could put those stat lines up
