Now that I'm a gov't type...and directly involved with how/when new puters are purchased for the department....I've raised the question of why we would automatically buy someone a new one every 4 years given the main reason is that had been the case, the HD starts getting weak. Some of our software is on the network, and Office 365 is around the corner...so there will be even less actually ON hard drives. We're heading to the point that with more and more cloud software...and solid state drives....when would a hard drive ever go bad?

that may be an old wives tale by now....renewing puters every four years.
Pretty sure thats there to keep up with technology....but now that os' have been 'tweeked'...I suspect its not as necessary anymore |

replaced dvd rom
re-installed cpu (rice sized thermal paste) dust service discarded crashed sata 1tb that was totally messing things up :/ running 22 degrees Celsius cooler than it has in over two years ![]() I think thermal paste was a bit thick and ill distributed. |
