Default Iomega Zip drive

Does anyone here use a Zip drive and if so...have you had any problems with Windows XP recognizing it? I have uninstalled/reinstalled......D/L the newer drive from Iomega that they CLAIM takes care of any problems and still nothing. If anyone has had this problem and was able to take care of it or not I'd appreciate any info you can provide.

Ordinarily I wouldn't even care but I have a tremendous amount of info/pics etrc that I have on 14 of the discs that I'd like to go through and transfer to one of my hard drives if possible.

What exactly is the problem? When you hook everything up, the computer doesn't recognize it? Or, it's there, but you cannot use it? Or ... ?

In the device manager the drive is listed but with an exclamation point over top of it.

You may not believe this......but I JUST unplugged the damm thing and plugged it back in and it is now working....unbelievable.

At the Iomega site they suggested that the drive was just not working anymore and they were very willing to sell me another one for the bargain price of $99.00!!! LMAO....for a bit more I could get another 160 gig external HD.....lmao...idiots.

Ha! Anyways trying to sell you something else ... never willing to "help" fix the one you have. Anyway, I'm glad that it works now.

In my 30+ years working in IT I have never seen a worse customer service department than Iomega's. Get your external hd (I have a Maxtor) while the zip is still working and copy them all, or burn them to a dvd.

I have a 250 gig WD External.. ANd I love it....

I also have a few USB Pen Drives. They are fairly cheap now a days too... You can get a gig for like 20$ if not less if you catch a good deal....

But i'd def go with the external...

MINE - Same one I have all cept mine is 250 gigs and that one is 160 gig.
