Default BMW Championship field.

This is the third of four tournaments in the Fed Ex Cup playoffs. I will admit it though it does not feel like the playoffs to me. A few tweaks would seem to be in order but I have no clue what they should be right now.

They are playing in Lemont, Illinois. Lemont is in the exurbs of Chicago. An exurbs is a region usually just beyond the suburbs of an urban area.

Trevor Immelman was the winner last year.

I seem to remember Rich mentioning the other day that the last two tournaments of the playoffs there is not cut. Part of the reason next week is there will on be 30 golfers total in the field next week I do believe. Another reason I guess is that the total number in the field gets smaller each week during the Fed Ex Cup playoffs.

The winner will take at least 1.26 million dollars home I would dare say. I do not know the exact amount though.

Im seeing the winners share at $1.26mil, so similar as to last weeks payout.

This was originally known as the Western Open and has been played since 1899, so it has a little history behind it.

According to the wiki for the tourney, its going to go on rotation and be away from its traditional (as far as I know) setting at Cog Hill, and will be played at Crooked Stick in suburban Indy and Bellerive near St Louis. And I know this last trivial fact cause Ive heard it a couple times on sports radio, but Hazeltine near the Cities declined to be part of that rotation, cause they want to focus for when they host the PGA Championship and the Ryder Cup.

no cut is correct Peter. The reason is actually because 70 is around the number that most tourn cuts trim the field down to.

Cog Hill is the location of this tourn (since1991)....a place that Tiger enjoys success at...I THINK he has won 3 times at that track...along with 2 2nds (one to FURJI and the other to IMMTR )last year as Peter stated. This tournament has been around since the early 1900's and was known as the Western Open for almost 70 years. All the greats have played and won it. Jack, Watson, Arnie,Casper, Chi Chi, Hogan, Snead,Hagen, Sarazen, Kite etc.

It is a long course at over 7300 yds and a par 71 (one less par 5 to eagle by the bangers). The par 3's are a collection of some of the hardest as a group on one 18 hole round. Sloping greens...length....OB on a couple long. The 18th promises some excitement and shot losses. 475 + yds long with a fairway AND green that slope right to left towards a good sized lake. Faders of the ball have a much better chance at success on this hole....approaches have to be precise.

Over 100 bunkers on this course....and water on 6 holes.

Now....more importantly....that was NOT a flattering pic of Alba Peter......

enjoy.......

Thank you Rich.

I can't be perfect every week but I can always strive to be better next week.

I'm sure we'll hear more about this now that he's announced about pulling out.

Edit:
Phil wanted to be allowed to withdraw from the Pro-Am on Wed so he could be with his children for their first day of school. He had a corporate outing for Bearing Point today (name on his visors...sponsor) and was willing at his expense to fly home to be with his children tomorrow and then fly back to Chicago for the tournament on Thursday. Finchem f'd up on this one...and IMHO it will come back to bite him in the --- as well. I can just about guarantee that Tiger and others will back him (Phil) up on this issue.

Thank you for the information -mmm-. I hope to see Tiger eventually play golf. He has only been scheduled to play anywhere close to where I live only once.
