Default $50,000 lottery ticket...in the garbage!

http://www.lotterypost.com/news/163213

Brings up some interesting ethical questions.....

What would YOU have done if you were the clerk?
How much would YOU have given the clerk if the ticket were yours?
What if the ticket was worth $5? $20? $1,000,000?

Knowing who the ticket was actually bought by and that person being a regular customer, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that I'd have returned the ticket.

10%....5K

The %age would have to change along with the value of the prize.

No offense, but I would've cashed it. I'm an honest guy and I people try to take advantage of me. I would've taken it though. That's like if you go to Vegas and someone gives you $5 to play on RED, and you win $$$, would you share it? How would they even know? *yoink*

The shop owner could've put that money into the store which would've still benefitted the "regular" customer.

There's enough of a rash of dishonest people out there regarding lotteries......last month there was a 7-11 clerk in the Sacramento area who told a ticket holder they had won $4 and gave that amount to them.........then proceeded to attempt to cash that ticket for its REAL value....of $555,000......

Had the rightful owner not heard a news report saying the winning ticket had been purchased at the store they'd just been at and looked into it, the clerk may have gotten away with it...

....too much of this kinda thing continues to happen...and not just on big winners...

this reminds me of another of Grandma's famous sayings......

"25% of people are honest....25% are dishonest

the other 50% are as honest as you keep them"

Didn't the guy who won the money have to fill out the back of the ticket? He will eventually get a tax bill and find out what the guy did.
