The US Open
The 2011 Open should be interesting. Beautiful tough golf course located in Bethesda Maryland(FUNFR is in and grew up near this course). No Tiger as that injury is still naggin(in spite of some fool here thinking he was not injured and pulled out of his last tourn because he was not playing well). MICKP...the best current golfer that has not won an Open although he has finshed 2nd a record 5 times (maybe you need to throttle back a tad Phil when it matters). STRST is hot coming in....as is TOMDA....DONLU. WESLE and Martin Kaymer have to be considered. Parity has reached the PGA and there are actually a number of others that could be considered favorites.
One interesting deveopement is that Tigers caddy will be looping for SCOAD. The Poa annua greens have been replaced with bent and are in perfect shape.....firm and fast. The fescue rough will feature the USGA-favored graduated cuts to further penalize shots the further they land from the fairway. The first cut is an average of 18 to 20 feet wide and 3 3/4 to 4 inches tall, depending on the hole. The second cut of rough goes 18-20 feet further from the fairway and is 4-5 inches high. They've added tees and skewed some of them so as not to have a straight look down the fairway....and added length. The golfers will NEED to be able to work the golf ball left OR right. Thank you for the information about this course. No wonder a golf course is not played on for an entire year to get the course ready if I am remembering correctly.
Double thank yous rich. Should we expect some really low golf scores this week. Well hopefully it will not be as bad as Winged Foot.

no low scores Peter...not IMO. Tough course. Typically in an Open they are fighting to stay around or just under par.
