Default Boy we sure do pick our friends well huh?

So much for spreading democracy around the world. How can we expect to do it for a people who as a whole hate us when even our "allies" refuse to accept it?

On a lighter note, thought I'd highlight this particular quote as it should bring a chuckle to anyone who follows current events in the US. but be warned before reading it make sure you have no liquid or food in your mouth as I can't be responsible for your choking and/or spitting it all over your keyboard as you burst into uncontrollable laughter.

Quote:
"Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice urged restraint on all sides and a swift return to democracy in Pakistan.

The United States "does not support extraconstitutional measures," Rice said from Turkey, where she was participating in a conference with Iraq's neighbors."

Well one could argue that when Bush and crew said "democracy in Iraq" they just meant "puppet state".

Of course democracy in the Middle East has been a tenuous thing. The only 2 with any kind of stability right now are Turkey (who is threatening to undermine whatever peace there is in the Kurdish region of Iraq) and Iran (of course there the Prez has no real power as the grand ayatollah really runs things).

But Condi's quote there isnt as good as the one from a few week's ago where she cautioned Russia against trying to accumulate too much power in the executive branch. Nor as sad as when they couldnt really say anything against Myanmar as they used waterboarding against the monks who protested there.
