Default 1st Annual MLB PLAYOFF COMPETITION

Rules are simple, pick 4 players and 4 pitchers from any playoff team. Points will be assigned like Fantasy Football. You may pick players/pitchers from several teams or take your chances with all of them from one team.

Points are as follows-

Hitters:
Run = 1
Hit = 1
2B = 2
3B = 3
HR = 5
RBI = 2
SO = -2
SB = 1

Pitchers:
W = 5
L = -5
SO = 1
CG = 5
SHO = 10
SV = 3
ER = -1
HR = -2

Just so we're clear:

Players/pitchers get points for what they get. For example, a HR is a hit +1, HR +5, RBI +2, Run +1, so a HR is 9 points. Simple and much easier for me to keep track of.

If a pitcher scores a complete game shutout then he'd receive 5 for the W, 5 for the CG and 10 for the SHO for a total of 20 for the game. (plus/minus the strikeouts and earned runs).

If a pitcher gives up a HR, then it counts as a -2 for the HR and -1 for the ER.

Basically, whatever stat is accrued, the player gets credit for.

Entries are due by the start of the first Wild Card game...whenever that is. You may either PM pics to myself of Sitewolf.

Best of luck to all.

Reason: Hopefully that scoring is a little better

we could debate points all night.....one thing to consider, tho, would be adding strikeouts and possibly -1 for a CS and -2 for an error (tho maybe that's just more to track)

I believe both wild card games will be Friday night.

HR - 10 for hr 1 for hit 'n' for rbi's AND 1 for run?
Double 2 for double 1 for hit?

Strange that a pitcher loses more for a hr than losing. Just saying.

SOs have been added, CS won't be.

Yeah, didn't realize that I was giving a pitcher more points for giving up a HR than losing a game. That has been adjusted.

I think this scoring sheet looks a little better.

Thanks for the advice/help fellas.

clarification here.....so we're all on the same page

if a guy hits a solo home run he gets a point for a hit, a point for a run scored, 2 points for an rbi, and 5 points for a home run= 9 points...yes?

if a pitcher gets a CGSO he gets 5 points for the win, 5 points for the CG, and 10 points for the shutout= 20 points?

OR...are you meaning something else (as in 5 for the win, 5 for the CG, and 5 more for the shutout = 15 points)

Correct. I have edited the first post. It reads:

Points are as follows-

Hitters:
Run = 1
Hit = 1
2B = 2
3B = 3
HR = 5
RBI = 2
SO = -2
SB = 1

Pitchers:

Teams are due tomorrow by 5:07 EST (2:07 PST) because of the Cardinals-Braves game.

I want to let everyone know (since I'm a Cardinals fan), I'll be at a sports bar during that game, but I'll post the file sometime later tomorrow night.

Here's who I have confirmed:

For those wondering, I've sent my team to Orren. I'll have a file posted later tonight.

For those who aren't picking any Cardinals...

For those who are...best of luck.

best fielding percentage in the regular season = 3 errors tonight....

Saw a great sign in the stands tho..."Win one for the Chipper"
...the Braves, including Chipper, not currently cooperating

Here's the file:

The STL-ATL game has been entered, the TEX-BAL update will be ran after this game.

Bballjer44 definitely has the most entertaining strategy. I'm not sure how it'll hold up against my Cardinals. We'll see how that works out for ya.

Thanks to all who entered and best of luck to all.
