There is going to be another extremely boring IRL race on Sunday. This is the last race of the season for the IRL.

Will Danica finally win a race? She gets a little testy every once in a while when people ask about it all the time. Will Mr. Ashley Judd Dario Franchetti or Scott Dixon come away with the IRL championship?

The last race of the season was the most boring race of the IRL season!

Dario Franchitti had the early advantage because he was on the pole. He did not lead the first lap and it does not matter like I said in the previous post. There are no bonus points for leading a lap in the IRL.

So Dario was ahead of Scott Dixon until after the first round of pit stops. Scott Dixon gets out of the pits faster. Dario has one other problem. He has no teammates around him to help him draft and other things to help him get ahead of Scott Dixon. Whomever of the two finishes closest to the lead will win the IRL championship.

So a few things happen and I don't really remember what happened but Scott Dixon ends up with the lead and Dario is 2nd towards the end of the race. There were many drivers that did not know if they have enough fuel to get to the end of the race. So Danica goes into the pits to get just a little bit of fuel so she can finish the race but she has another mishap trying to get to her pit stall and spins out of control in the pits. This brings out a caution even though Danica is not even on the track. The announcers mention that Danica may have done this on purpose. The main reason may have been Dario may not have had enough fuel to get to the end of the race and IRL cars can really conserve fuel when doing caution laps when compared to being at top speed. I will say this about Danica she has had trouble in the pits before this season so it may well have just been Danica being Danica again. Who really knows if Danica did it on purpose or not and she is not going to tell anyone anyway.

So we get to the final lap of the race. Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti are still the first two cars with Scott Dixon still in the lead. On the final turn on the final lap Scott Dixon runs out of fuel! He is just seconds away from the finish line. Dario just barely avoids Scott Dixon because Dixon slows way down when he is out of fuel and Dario almost ran into the back of Dixon. Dario crosses the finish line as the winner and wins the championship!

As a person may be guessing this is an amazing ending to the IRL season.

Amazingly Scott Dixon still finished second even though he ran out of fuel. But as I said earlier Scott Dixon was not very far away from the finish line when he ran out of fuel.

Danica finished 11th out of 22 cars.

Who says the IRL is boring.
