Default Kyler Murray

OK, so he was drafted in by the A's in the MLB draft and got a 1.5mil signing bonus....while then also continuing his amateur status as a QB for the Sooners.

Now he's chosen to enter the NFL draft....but only has to pay back 1.29mil of his bonus....meaning he still gets to keep $210,000 he got from the A's? They retain his rights, but do NOT get a compensatory pick in this year's draft.

Meanwhile, he'll likely end up a top 10 pick in the NFL draft....Josh Rosen was the 10th pick last year and got a new $11mil signing bonus, over $2.7mil per season for 4 years....

So, hypothetically, he could bomb out of the NFL completely, go back to the A's next year, and already have over 3.5mil in his pocket...having actually done nothing but get drafted high...twice

At his size, SHOULD he have entered the NFL draft?

Not following you at all. Why SHOULDN'T he enter the NFL draft if he projects a $11 Million bonus. Salaries aren't guaranteed to be paid if cut but signing bonuses are.
Besides the MLB bonus wouldn't he be on a minor league contract pay scale until (if) he sticks in the bigs? Top prospects fail in MLB all the time.
If cut in FB in next couple years he could still try baseball. No chance of becoming NFL QB after a couple years hiatus.

no I guess it just struck me initially that he got a 1.5 mil bonus, but only has to give 1.29 of it back.....and that his size (supposedly listed bigger than he really is, and still only listed at 5'11") doesn't give him great odds to make it

after that I guess I just rambled about how he could be a millionaire w/o ever really setting foot on a field........good gig if you can get it
