$30mil barrier in MLB...Kershawed
I guess if $20mil per is viewed as ridiculous, we'd need a new adjective for $30mil
7 yrs $215mil the interesting thing being Kershaw, not the Dodgers, has the opt out clause after 5 years http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-...year-215m-deal

Rediculous until...
...You compare his salary to Hollywood. According to Forbes, and compared to the (non-sports) entertainment crowd, Kershaw is grossly underpaid. At the top of the list is Simon Cowell and Howard Stern with $95 million. Ryan frickin' Seacrest earned $61 million in 2013! You have to drop all the way down to Liam Neeson at $32 million to get into the Kershaw level of poverty.
When you get right down to it, sports is entertainment by another name. A movie actor can earn millions to make a crummy movie - and can make more than one of them in a year. Channing Tatum is credited in 5 productions for 2013 (and I'll bet you can't name any of them) and earned a whopping $60 million. I'm not a fan of the Dodgers but respect what Kershaw has done the past few years. I think it is surely on par with anything Liam Neeson or Channing Tatum have done. The sad thing is that you need a credit score above 700 to buy a Dodger Dog at Chavez Ravine or a medium sized tub of popcorn at the local theater. |
