A bit of irony.
Federal Hall which is the first place that the congress convened, had the first supreme court offices, and last but not least George Washington had an executive office there as well. We must remember there were only thirteen colonies along the east coast at the time.
What was one of the very first acts of congress in this building? Quote:
Amendment I Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. But if a person wants to do what I have in bold at Federal Hall you have to get a special permit which is $50. Link here As I said I find this to be just slightly ironic.
