Viking Classic
Taking place this week at Annandale Golf Club in Madison MS which is just outside of Jackson. Traditionally this tournament was played opposite a major, the Masters for most of its history than the British Open for a good part of the 90s. Since 2007 its been part of the fall series. Old time players from the other game may know this tourney best as the one KENSK shot -22 back in 2000, losing in a playoff to Steve Lowery (back when a +1 round made Skippy a monthly buy ). Will MacKenzie is the defending champ and the winner takes home $666k. Now thats a scary sum since it takes place over Halloween weekend
Appleby, Stuart Austin, Woody Beem, Rich Bohn, Jason Byrd, Jonathon Calcavecchia, Mark Campbell, Chad Curtis, Ben Daly, John DiMarco, Chris Durant, Joe Duval, David Elkington, Steve Faxon, Brad Flesch, Steve Frazar, Harrison Gore, Jason Hamilton, Todd Henry, J.J. Herron, Tim Hoffman, Charley Howell III, Charles Imada, Ryuji Janzen, Lee Johnson, Richard Kaye, Jonathon Kuchar, Matt Lickliter II, Frank Lonard, Peter Matteson, Troy Mayfair, Billy Mediate, Rocco Ogilvie, Joe Owen, Greg Palmer, Ryan Pernice, Jr., Tom Pettersson, Carl Purdy, Ted Quigley, Brett Quinney, Jeff Reavie, Chez Riley, Chris Slocum, Heat Snedeker, Brandt Toms, David Trahan, D.J. Wagner, Johnson Wilson, Dean Shaun Micheel, Paul Stankowski and Skip Kendall are listed among the alternates

And this years tourney has been cancelled due to all the bad weather they've had in that part of the country.
With next week being a WGC tourney in Shanghai (first time event, and an 11 hour difference between the east coast and there, 7 hours for the west coast, and about the same for the Aussie folks) and than only one more fall series event, perhaps a good time to see how the listed golfers fare in the quest to get into the top 125 for next year (starting at 110): 113-Harrison Frazar 114-Greg Owen 115-Ryuji Imada 118-Jeff Quinney 120-Richard Johnson 122-Steve Flesch 124-Rich Beem 125-David Duval (wow didnt think he was that high, that'd be great if he can crack this list for next year since he's on his last exemption!) *********** 126-Chris Riley 128-Tim Herron 133-Todd Hamilton 134-Stuart Appleby 135-Joe Ogilvie 136-Tom Pernice, Jr. 138-Chris DiMarco 141-Rocco Mediate 145-Corey Pavin 147-Chez Reavie 149-Tom Lehman 150-Ryan Palmer 151-Carl Pettersson 152-Dean Wilson 154-Jason Gore 155-Trevor Immelman 156-Billy Mayfair 157-Johnson Wagner 164-Jonathon Kaye 165-Bart Bryant 166-Peter Lonard 174-Brandt Jobe 178-Shigeki Maruyama 180-Joe Durant 182-Steve Elkington 183-Jose Maria Olazabal 191-Frank Lickliter II 198-Kirk Triplett 206-Paul Stankowski 216-Skip Kendall 217-Carlos Franco 218-Jasper Parnevik 219-Brad Faxon 223-Bob Tway 224-Loren Roberts 227-Len Mattiace 228-Arron Oberholser 233-Fred Funk 235-Mark Hensby 243-Olin Browne One thing I noticed with the bottom of that list is alot of guys who are also on the Champions Tour (FAR fewer IPOs needed if that ever was included here?? ) and a few guys who focus more on Europe now. That still leaves a few guys who need to have a great showing in the final fall series event in a couple weeks in order to keep their card.
