Default Intel 45nm Multi-core

I am upgrading my mobo, cpu and ram....

I would like to know more about the availability, reliability and price of the new Intel 45nm Multi-core cpu's

I want to use this board...
ASUS P5E3 DELUXE/WIFI-AP X38 ATX DDR3 3PCI-E16 2-PCI-E1 2PCI SATA RAID 2XGBLAN Draft N Motherboard

I will use something like this for ram...
Patriot Viper Extreme Performance 4GB DDR3 2X2GB PC3-10666 DDR3-1333 CL 7-7-7-20 Memory Kit

Please understand, I am still on a learning curve when it comes to sorting through and matching components.
I just finished my latest computer last month...completely built! LOVED building it..works fabulous...now my daughter wants one. Well...ok....she can have the m2n-e, Athlon 3800 duo core 64 bit cpu and big ram ddr2(800) that I have...now daddy wants to go big.

Please advise on best possible choices for cpu. 64 bit required. Extremely curious about 45nm m.c., but that could be clouding my view.

Thanks for any help!!
I am...

And the purpose of this beast of a machine? If you slapped an 8800 GTx, you would have a sweet gaming machine!

lol....other than Jockstocks, poker, etc...I never have played a 'puter (or Sony playthingy or Q-box) "game"....yet!!!
I say yet because the kids at work talk about this "Call of Duty"? Sounds...interesting, but the 8800 gtx is...450 bucks!!! I'm noy saying it didn't cross my mind, but at some point, budget must rear it's ugly head and bring me back down to earth...I really don't want to shelve another one!
As mentioned above...It is an opportunity for me to up-grade what I had. I do have programs that require more speed yet (SolidWorks, a little audio/video editing, etc...). I am very impatient

I am unsure about synchronizing voltages/overclocking and front bus line speeds from board to cpu to RAM. Hell, I have no idea at this point and would like to see whassup on this system (soon to be daughter's as in top post).

Running Vista Home Premium....Bios?

The system will last you four to five years, with maybe [and I stress maybe] a gFx card upgrade.

Anyway, Call of Duty 4 is a freaking awesome game! Your system will handle it just fine.

you do some 3D designing....enough so that you need a professional program like Solid Works? That sucker takes a solid graphics setup on its own......it's what our designers use at work...I use it occasionally when I'm helpin' 'em out.

yes..I have SolidWorks. I do not have a professional use as yet, but I needed a drafting program last year and Auto-Cad had no 64 bit version at that time! Pricey...but unbelievably so much better. I absolutely love the click and drag functionability (no typing!!). Just finished Level II (night classes)...failed miserably...fell too far behind and still trying to catch up. Will take again in the fall...meanwhile I have been using the on-line tutorials to keep sharp and get help when I'm stuck drawing something.
This is a high end 3d/drawing program unmatched as yet...I think!

Sorry to ramble but almost a year gone by...and you are the first one I know of that is not a salesman, student or teacher to comment about it. Does the program you use have the extras? Cosmos, libraries, etc?

Because I'm NOT a true gamer and will not be overclocking...your estimate of five years sounds acceptable, thank you.

I could still use a clue as to look see what this system is running. ie;
synchronizing voltages/overclocking and front bus line speeds

no idea if they'd have extras.....they design wooden swing sets which (as they hate hearing me joke about) are, when you break it down to its core, just sticks o' wood with holes in 'em. 'course, they also use it to design slides, hardware, and other accessories.........but as to extras..doubt they do unless the company really thought it was necessary. We've got like 8 licenses for it I think. They'd used AutoCad for years and changed in '06....had to be a reason. As far as ease of use, I guess for what I've used it for so far, I'd agree....but then the last CAD program I used was an almost-DOS autocad....lol

Sorry for delay, I have reconsidered things! I did not like the term 'monster'!

Have decided to go with 'baby'... server?

I want to pull trigger on this ... but would like some input, one way and/ or the other.

Prices seem reasonable (couple are very good) and I gave in when I found an 8800GTS 320mb for 225 bucks.

I still need a case and power supply (850w+). I have looked through 1000 or so and haven't seen what I'm looking for. I want PSU (modular)on bottom of case, I want a large window. I NEED a large case (see CPU cooler) 4-5.25" bays min/ 4-3.5" HDD bays min, I do NOT need liquid cooled , I want it ALL aluminum at least, and I want 'em both to fall in my budget (<200 for PSU and <225 for a case {NOT WHITE/CREAM})

Any tips?

...and thank you for any and all input!
