What I like about Canadian politics
- Short writ period: No two year long build up to an election. Writ period is a mere 37 days! And our election, which was just called on Sunday, will be finished a month before the US election.
- No long drawn out process for parties to pick their leaders. Decision made over a couple of days at a party convention. Doesn't have to happen before an election (Conservative Party picked Harper back in 2005!)
- Things DON'T get personal! No getting into what leaders do on their personal time or even who their spouses are! I couldn't even tell you (nor do I care) who Harper, Layton, and Dion's wives are, nor who May's husband is. The only thing I do know is that the only place Cretien uses pepper is on his plate
- Politicians have a good sense of humour. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pc38oF3_5Y0 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ER2eZ6CwPP4
That said, I hate the fact that our Federal Government hasn't mandated set election dates yet. What a waste of $$ it is to be having an election right now. We all know there will be another Minority Government elected. Stupid.
