The Players
Best field of the year, usually....this year 74 of the world's top 100.
The Players Championship....with a 9 million dollar purse against the top in the world, probably listed # 5 behind the majors for tournaments Pro's wish they could win. Tiger will not be there...for the first time in his pro career. He's still recuperating from knee surgery. The field is real lucky. THE WINNER GETS 1.7 MIL!!! Nice.... Phil is defending champ and recent winners include AMEST/FUNFR/SCOAD. Sawgrass.....played by millions on their TV's....one of the most exciting courses (tough as hell) and maybe one of the top 5 most recognized holes in all of golf....the 17th. Anything can happen, and does. My fav is COUFR....knocked one in the water....teed up another (hitting 3) and knocked it in for one of the MOST unconventional pars you'll ever see. Well this has to a little unusual this year.
I can't fathom having one the best fields each year without Tiger. I am going to be helpful and call this the fifth major even if it isn't.
