well, remember that's for 36 races...that's less than 6 per race

just usually means they qualify better than they race

I believe but am not for sure that +/- is the difference from taking the Green flag to start the race up to the checker finish. Kind of like +/- when on ice. So he is not official on the track until he takes the Green flag. I will assume he starts around 41st and will finish 8th. +33 is my guess.

We determined that Earnhardt qualified for and should be treated as the pole sitter. I showed how, when this exact thing happened to Stewart in 2009, he was listed on the results page as starting at the pole despite being sent to the back. Therefore, his +/- had no chance to be positive.

+/- for NASCAR is not an official stat...it's a JS created stat

I wasnt suggesting anything in regards to u. I was guessing how Nascar handles the +/- as thru their standings on their website. Guess we will see. Only J$ DIVI comment I made was JR and Gordon are top 2 DIVIwise even though they both may end up at the rear during the warm up.

No, you didn't. However, you're muddling what I already said.

1.) +/- is not an official stat, it's a JS stat
2.) My research indicated that the results page we use in generating stats, including +/-, would list qualifying position as the starting position
3.) Therefore, I expect to see Junior showing in the results page on Sunday with a starting position of 1...meaning his 'best possible' +/- would be 0 with a win....not potentially +42 if he won with a starting position of 43........even tho I don't guarantee it, I simply guarantee I'll be using the starting position listed on the results page

lol...you don't know where I get stats?
I directly or indirectly said 4-5 times in this thread that I get them from the results page at nascar.com following each race

...and said the same thing re starting position

There were only 2 pertinent questions raised:
1.) Should a driver retain his qualifying position even if he is later moved to the back of the field?
2.) Is the number shown in the results page as starting position equal to a driver's qualifying position?
And we determined the answer to both was yes- like 40 hours ago

yea I didnt know #2 but specualted. As far as #1 Jr. still had the best pit spot so I would say no as he was in contention all day. Of course this is a restricter plate race.
