Default Why the Bears lost on Monday! LOL

From the book Dreamland

In addition to societal or cultural sleep-wake patterns, individuals have our own patterns of circadian rhythm. (Jet lag is an example of rhythm gone wrong). Randall reports on fascinating research about the effect of circadian and sleep cycles on professional football. Sleep researchers in the 90s began studying the results of Monday Night Football games and comparing them to the players’ circadian rhythms. West Coast teams were playing at the equivalent of 5:30 p.m. whether the game was on the West Coast or the East. But East Coast teams, whether in their home territory or on the West Coast, were playing at a time when circadian rhythms are naturally slowing them down, preparing them for sleep. Studying over 25 years of Monday Night Football scores, the researchers found that West Coast teams won 63 percent of the time. “By picking the West Coast team every time, someone would have beaten the point spread 70 percent of the time,” Randall tells us."

This was brought up once again after the Bears looked so awful this past Monday night against S.F.
Bears for as far back as I can remember have usually played real bad on Sunday or Monday nights against west coast teams, so maybe just maybe there is something to this. lol
Personally, I feel it may play a VERY small part. But then teams have a week to make any adjustments for this. IMO
The main problem with the percentages listed above is that the west coast team is the home team in these situations and home teams do win more games to begin with.

Here is a stat of disaster for the Bears.

The Bears have not won in Candlestick since 1985. They have been outscored in the eight games since then 276-49. Most of those were night games, but not all of them. Just an amazing stat. IMO

funny, that's the EXACT score I predict for the Bears/Vikings game this week

I'll bet west coast teams going East experience the same effect....perhaps not as exaggerated.

More weird news from Halas hall.

Starting LG Chilo Rachel left the team today. It is reported that his former team the Niners got into his head so bad during the game with trash talking that this casued his poor play. He got demoted today, could not deal with the demotion and left the team.

Seems like a repeat of last year for the Bears. The ship is sinking?
